Care Ministries - Prayer/Healing Ministry
The heart of our parish life is in God the Holy Trinity and, thankfully, God is eager to communicate with us in prayer. Therefore, Church of the Nativity is eager to meet with God frequently and regularly in prayer, seeing prayer as foundational for our ministry. We have some specialized ways to pray which further the pastoral care of the parish.
Prayer List The weekly worship leaflets contain a list of prayer concerns for the world and the wider church, as well as more personal concerns for the needs of members or those known to members. Prayer requests, or thanksgivings, may be called in to the Parish Office, provided the person(s) being prayed for grant permission. Requests are normally kept on the list for six weeks, unless a request is made for longer listing, and updates are giving as to progress in healing.
Prayer Chain The Prayer Chain lifts up to God the special prayer requests which are of concern to members of our congregation. Parishioners who form this group commit themselves to be faithful in the requested prayers, to keep the prayers confidential, and to pass them on in a timely fashion. Parishioners may contact the church office to ask for prayer.
Healing Prayer Ministry This ministry offers personal prayer for healing, and is supervised by the Rector and coordinated by the Pastoral Assistant. There are opportunities on Sunday mornings for healing prayer with members of the Healing Team following the 7:45 and 9:30 services, and during Communion at the 9:30 service. There is also a Healing Service at 7:30 PM on the first Monday of the month. This includes a time of music, sharing, a brief teaching, and an opportunity for individual prayer with members of the Healing Team. Occasionally, a special guest will bring a teaching or testimony to the service. You are welcome to contact the Pastoral Associate to inquire about this ministry.
